i see all of this as part of the aliens plan

step 1: wipe out some humanity
2: the zombie apocalypse starts
3: the aliens wait for the zombies to kill all survivors then they come and clean up the zombies
4: some renegade humans survive (such as myself) because we either keep a sword or shotgun with lots of ammo near us when we sleep
5: in straight up movie style, when the aliens come back to check on what's left of earth, they get bitched slapped back to their own galaxy
