General Strategies

General Strategies for Noobs (please elaborate on this more, since I did most of this when I was half-asleep).

1) Keep track of your lane partner - know what he's doing, and if he's in trouble, do what you can to help. If he's engaging the enemy, try to help with the kill in any way you can.

2) The towers are total rape-party. The towers in LoL will only engage you for one of the following two conditions: a) There are no other creep nearby, or b) You've engaged an enemy hero in tower range. "Tower Diving" to try to finish off a hero is an extremely dangerous maneuver that will likely result in death, especially early-game. The tower damage accellerates - the more times in a row you've been hit by the same tower, the more damage you'll take, and it ramps up fast. This actually means that one of the most opportune times to engage an enemy hero is if they're dumb enough to tower dive you! Stun them or slow them and kite them around the tower and watch the tower rape their asshole.

3) Watch the minimap. Know where the enemies are, and where your teammates are.

4) You don't want to push too far when you're solo. Later in the game, when/if we start pushing the lanes closer to their base, you want to be mindful of where the enemy heroes are. If you know where they all are (if their dead, or you can see their icons on the map), then by all means, push that lane. But if all heroes can't be accounted for, it's safer to assume you're going to get ganked, especially if you're pushing close to their base. If the lanes are pushed close to their base, you can neutral creep to work on XP while we group up for a push or gank.

5) When you're new, the hardest thing to do will be surviving. So starting with a Regrowth pendant is a very good idea (and you've been doing this). After that, however, you'll likely want to build at least one HP item, and sooner rather than later. This means straight HP and not primarily regen. If you're more of a tank, go for Warmogs armor, which gives HP and HP regen, but also passively increases your HP and regen over time. If you're more of a caster-type, go for a Rod of Ages, which will give you HP, Mana, and Ability Power, and passively increases your ability power as time progresses. Generally speaking, the items listed along the top are good items to work on, likely in order from left to right...Sometimes, anyway. Safe order for every character: HP regen, then boots of some sort, then from there, try to follow the items at the top.
